Kanoa Resort Saipan is Now Fiber Technology Equipped

Last February 28, 2019, at a symbolic ceremony, Kanoa Resort Saipan launched its wifi service through a partnership with IT&E The entire resort is now fiber-technology equipped, enabling faster and more reliable internet service.  

The significant upgrade of Kanoa’s internet service will benefit hotel guests’ need to stay connected at all times. Guests at Kanoa can now experience up to 60 MBPS bandwidth, the fastest on the island. 

Activities that require high speed internet can now be seamlessly held at Kanoa as the resort can provide unlimited internet service- the first to offer on the island.   

 

 

TanHoldings and Strategic Business Units sponsor Tagaman Triathlon

Last March 30, 2019 the longest running race in the Western PacificTagaman Triathlon took place. Among the sponsors of the event were TanHoldings and its strategic business units Fiesta Resort and Spa Resort, Kanoa Resort Saipan and Let’s Go.  

Tagaman Triathlon draws its name and inspiration from a legendary king of ancient Chamorros whose feats of strength included carved capstones known as Taga stones.  

Since its commencement in 1992, the event has grown and attracted a lot of athletes from Australia, USA, Asian countries and neighboring the Pacific Islands.  

The course covered the crystal water at the Minachom Atdao, in Susupe and transitions to one of the world’s most beautiful bike courses.  Racers enjoyed a flat run course along Saipan pathway with the views of the Western lagoon through the historic American Memorial Park.

CTSI Logistics Saipan and Guam Receives Exxon Mobil’s Operational Excellence Awards

CTSI Logistics Saipan and CTSI Guam received the Incident Free Award for the Year 2018 from Exxon Mobil.

The award recognizes companies who have adhered to high ethical and operating standards.

The Saipan Station has been a consistent awardee since 2014.

This year’s awarding was held in New Zealand. Receiving the award were CTSI Saipan General Manager Joven Cruz (2nd from left) and CTSI Guam General Manager Danny Lim (4th from left).

Go Green Team Conducts First Beach Clean Up

TanHoldings Go Green Team held its first Beach Clean Up last March 23, 2019. The team started the clean up behind TSL Plaza to Garapan Fishing Base. It is the first of the six beach clean up drives organized by the TanHoldings team members this year to help the community thrive in a sustainable environment.

OSHA Training for Realty Management Services Team

TanHoldings’ Realty Management team attended the Personal Protective Equipment Training last March 20, 2019 conducted by TanHoldings Safety & Health Consultant Ron Biggers. Personal protective equipment is addressed in specific Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for General Industry, Shipyard Employment, Marine Terminals, Longshoring, and Construction. OSHA requires that many categories of personal protective equipment meet or be equivalent to standards developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The members were provided references that will help them recognize the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper PPE selection and usage.

CTSI Logistics Kicks Off 30th Anniversary Celebration

This year, CTSI Logistics, TanHoldings logistics arm, is celebrating its 30th founding anniversary of continuously bridging the world together. With the theme, “Think CTSI, Think Xo”, this year’s anniversary focuses on encouraging members to do the extraordinary, break from their usual work routines and find more meaning in what they do.

The celebration has been initially rolled out in the Philippines and the rest of the stations is set to follow.

Tango Theatres to Receive Highest Employer Award for 2019

Tango Theatres, who is celebrating its 20th anniversary in providing the best theatre experience in Guam is set to receive the highest employer award in 2019.

Pro Patria Award is the highest award presented every year to a local employer in Guam-CNMI who have demonstrated unwavering and outstanding support of their service member employees by the Employer Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

In the past years, Tango Theatres has received ESGR awards beginning in 2017 with the Above and Beyond Award, Most Supportive Employer in 2018 and climbed to the highest employer award this year.

The awarding will be held at the Sheraton Hotel Guam on June 15, 2019.

 

 

Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan Joins the 2019 Saipan Marathon

Team members of the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan and TanHoldings President and CEO Jerry Tan participated at the 2019 Saipan Marathon held last March 9 at the American Memorial Park. Aside from participating as runners in the event, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan also set up a volunteer tent to assist attendees at in the marathon.

Held annually at the beautiful Marianas, the marathon features 10k, half marathon and full courses. This year, 44 runners participated in the said event.

 

 

Saipan Marathon is certified by the International Association of Athletic Federations through the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races and is a great opportunity for participants to qualify for other marathons around the world.

 

 

TSL Foundation, Stellar Marianas Team Up for Miss U Bid

Tan Siu Lin Foundation together with Stellar Marianas, CNMI’s nonprofit pageant and talent group, formed an alliance to revive the island’s participation in one of the world’s greatest stage – Miss Universe.

Attended by TanHoldings CEO Jerry Tan and Tan Siu Lin Foundation Executive Director Merlie Tolentino with over 20 members and officers of Stellar Marianas and Administrative Officer Mel Naputi, TSL Foundation announced at Marianas Visitors Authority Conference Room last March 5, 2019, its commitment to fund the Miss Universe pageant’s $10,000 charter fee.

“As a destination and as a goal, we should try to be on every world stage—just like we wish we could compete in the World Cup or other world competitions. We have invested in our active sport programs over these years to begin that possibility for our youth and our community. We should be determined to compete at world level and for pageants, you cannot get bigger than Miss Universe,” said Jerry Tan. “There are very few organizations on island that offer such life-changing opportunities for our young women and we are happy to be able to support such a worthwhile endeavor.”

It was indeed an enjoyable and colorful gathering at Garapan Fishing Base, Saipan last March 2, 2019 as family, volunteers, friends and children attended the yearly Triple J 5k Bubble Color Run.

The Triple J 5k Bubble Run started five years ago in Guam as a fund raising event aimed at supporting Make-A-Wish Foundation and Commonwealth Cancer Association (CCA).

Tan Holdings and Tan Siu Lin Foundation actively participates in the endeavor by sponsoring the event. “We are super stoked with all the support we got from the runners/ walkers and of course to our major sponsors, Tan Holdings and Tan Siu Lin Foundation,” says Maria Valentina Haberman, Triple J Saipan, Marketing Manager. “We’re lucky that the entire community came together to make this cause possible.”

As the spirit of Christmas embraced the world last year, Tan Holdings and Tan Siu Lin Foundation gave the residents of Broadway Estates simple presents packaged in “300 Buckets of Hope”. It is noted that Tinian is one of the areas affected by the Typhoon Yutu in 2018. A brief presentation ceremony was conducted led by Tan Holdings executives President and CEO Jerry Tan, VP for Business Development Alex Sablan, VP for Corporate Affairs/ Human Resources Catherine Attao and Community Relations Director Carline Sablan with Tan Siu Lin Foundation General Manager Merlie Tolentino and Tinian Municipal Operations Center’s Vanessa Manglona, Tito Manglona and Wally Villagomez. Also present in the event were acting mayor and chairman, Edwin Hofschneider and representative-elect Antonio SN. Borja who received the buckets.

The 300 Buckets of Hope contain various practical items such as laundry detergent, bath soap, canned goods, milk, snacks, instant noodles, batteries, etc.

“It is our hope that these buckets provide optimism for the future amidst Yutu’s devastation. We know that recovery and rebuilding will take time. We are a resilient community and we will get through this together. The holiday season is a very important time for the community to come together to help those still impacted by Yutu. I am happy to have made it out to Tinian with my team to personally deliver our ‘Buckets of Hope’ in time for Christmas,” says CEO Jerry Tan.

Blue Bay Palau Gathered for the Sweet Holidays

Last December 16, BlueBay Palau participated in the annual Ekei’Santa Claus Parade. The float parade symbolizes the welcoming of the holidays in Palau and tradition has it that families should wear Santa hats while children waited along the streets while float riders shower them with sweet treats.

Every year, the Blue Bay Team joins the colorful parade to share the spirit of Christmas to the community.

Tan Holdings and TSL Foundation Helps Yutu Relief Efforts

TanHoldings together with its charitable arm, the Tan Siu Lin Foundation pledged $1 million to aid the rebuilding efforts of CNMI. The ceremonial check was presented at Kanoa Resort on November 19, 2018, attended by ranking officials of Tan Holdings, the CNMI government and disaster relief operations.

The $1 million will be divided among organizations Red Cross – NMI Chapter, Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts and CNMI Mass Care.

“This is my home, our home. When we are faced with…this level of devastation, I believe we all need to step up and help our neighbors and our friends,” President and CEO Jerry Tan said.

The Tan Holdings with Tan Siu Lin Foundation commemorates the 3rd Field Heroes last October 17, 2018. The annual event which started in 2016, emphasized on the importance of reflecting on the loss of lives on the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

The Green Gala is an annual fundraising event aimed at educating the community in keeping the beaches and ocean clean. It also gathered prominent environmentalists and raised funds for MINA’s programs. Green Gala 2018 was hosted at the Hibiscus Hall, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan last September 14, 2018. The event was a success as the 200 tickets are sold out.

The beach front was filled with group activities that strengthened family ties.

Pull for A Cause

Tan Holdings ranked third place at the recently concluded United Airlines 13th Plane Pull. CTSI Logistics Guam landed the third spot in the Men’s and Coed Divisions held in Tiyan, last October 13. Along with other Tan Holdings Strategic Business Units (SBUs), Team Members held the rope and towed United Boeing 737 (weighing 145, 000 pounds, 129 feet long, 41 feet high and 142 feet wide).

Though drenched in rain, our SBUs together with volunteers, cancer survivors and warriors from different organizations gathered to the ceremonial event to benefit the American Cancer Society and Guam Cancer Care organizations.
