Pull for A Cause

Tan Holdings ranked third place at the recently concluded United Airlines 13th Plane Pull. CTSI Logistics Guam landed the third spot in the Men’s and Coed Divisions held in Tiyan, last October 13. Along with other Tan Holdings Strategic Business Units (SBUs), Team Members held the rope and towed United Boeing 737 (weighing 145, 000 pounds, 129 feet long, 41 feet high and 142 feet wide).

Though drenched in rain, our SBUs together with volunteers, cancer survivors and warriors from different organizations gathered to the ceremonial event to benefit the American Cancer Society and Guam Cancer Care organizations.

Blue Bay Joined Hands to Adopt A Room

Last October 2018, members of Blue Bay Palau lent their time to the Belau National Hospital- for a good cause. The members spent weekends to adopt two surgical ward rooms for repainting, fixing the lighting conditions, cleaning curtains and bed dividers.

Belau National Hospital has been around for 20 years, giving immeasurable service to the community. Every now and then, it needed constant maintenance and seeks support to local and private organizations for helping hands.

For the past years, the Blue Bay Team has been extending aid and support to various causes aimed at uplifting communities as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

Let’s Go! Featured in BTS and Momoland’s Promotional Activities

BTSLet’s Go! has been featured by famous Kpop idol groups BTS (also known as Bangtan Boys) and Momoland (known for their hit song “Bboom Bboom”) when they visited Saipan for various promotional activities last April and May. BTS landed the shores of Marianas for their Summer Package photoshoot. They were filmed and photographed riding the Jetovator at Let’s Go Marine, interacting with the stingrays at SeaTouch and traversing the trail an ATV at Let’s Go Land Tour.

Momoland, on the other hand, has filmed their first ever reality TV show, “Momoland’s Beautiful Days in Saipan” where they feature the members having fun at SeaTouch and taking the adventurous ride via Let’s Go Land Tour.

TH Sophia WalkIt was another meaningful milestone for Tan Holdings group of companies and Tan Siu Lin Foundation to have participated at the 19th Annual Sophia Walk which commenced at the Fiesta Saipan Resort & Spa Saipan last June 23, 2018. Named after the former first lady Sophia P. Tenorio, Sophia Walk aims to frame the benefits of long walks and at the same time, raise funds for the improvement of CNMI’s hospital. As a celebration to the event, Tan Siu Lin Foundation also gave commemorative T-shirts for the first 500 participants. Over $5,000 was raised during the Sophia Walk event, proceeds will go to the CHC Volunteers Association, a group of volunteers at the hospital.

Tan Holdings donates $1,000 in support for Saipan Unity Lions Club’s 1st annual Marianas Next Top Model held last April 22 at Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

Following the pageant’s theme “Care for the Environment, Save Mother Earth,” the event aims to raise awareness in preserving and caring for the environment, promoting goodwill and camaraderie. Proceeds from the event go to the club’s projects such as construction and renovation of bus shelters, medical missions, as well as providing help for the Manamko – the community of elderly Chamorros.

The Saipan Unity Lions Cub is a locally-formed organization of volunteers. It operates as part of the Lions Clubs International, working together to bring solutions to challenging needs of communities around the globe.

Tan Holdings sponsors 1st annual Coffee Marathon Tan Holdings shows support for the Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA)’s 1st Annual Rota Coffee Marathon held last April 14 in Rota.

The event promotes the island of Rota as a tourist spot and its unspoiled seas and beaches, as well as the sustenance of the culture of healthy living and fitness in the CNMI community. The race featured three (3) distances – 42k, 21k and 10k.

MVA is an organization that promotes the Marianas as a world class destination. It consists of individuals, corporations, groups, and private entities that support its mission, events, and projects.

The 32nd Annual American Red Cross, with its continued support from Tan Holdings and Tan Siu Lin Foundation, was held last April 14, 2018.

General medical check-ups consisting of blood pressure and glucose screening were demonstrated, as well as various community activities and giveaways catering to families and children, such as the Fire Department and Military “Big Truck” demonstration, petting zoo, and cooking demonstrations.

Tan Holdings and its Strategic Business Units (SBUs) with over 700 employees and families joined the world for the seventh time in support for Earth Hour last Saturday, March 24 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm local time. Participation to the event includes turning off non-essential lights for one hour, either in workplaces or at home.

The inclusion of hotels such as Kanoa Resort Saipan and Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan shows the seriousness of the company to encourage not just its team members and families but also clients and customers to participate in Earth Hour – that the simple act of turning off the lights for one hour leaves a good impact for the environment.

Earth Hour is an environmental advocacy which originated in Sydney, Australia in 2007. It has been held every year since as a global event.

Star sponsorship in the said event is granted to one company or organization that makes a donation worth over $10,000 in cash or in-kind services. Tan Holdings’ donation is composed of $8,000 worth of monetary donation as well as donations of $20,000 worth of t-shirts given to team members, survivors, and sponsors.

The MMAC is a voluntary walk organized to support and remember those who have fought and are fighting cancer through proceeds donated to the organizer group CCA.

The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) certifies Pina Deleon Guerrero as a professional in Human Resources. This demonstrates that Deleon Guerrero, Senior HR Manager for Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, has a strong background and experience of professional human resource. She is also proven to be effective in implementing her knowledge of the field in the workplace.

The SHRM accreditation signifies that the high standards expected and needed in the HR field has been met. Including Deleon Guerrero, there are currently seven HR professionals in the CNMI that hold a certification from the HR Certification Institute and SHRM.

After declining his past four nominations, the Chamber made the surprise announcement at the Business Person of the Year Gala last January 27 at the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan.
Acknowledging the rapid growth of global competition, Quichocho believes that to continue CNMI’s economic growth, tighter unity and faster operations would be effective measures to maintain the community’s current market share.

The Business Person of the Year Gala, formerly known as the Chamber’s Installation Dinner, is the organization’s signature fundraising event.

The 10th Annual John Pangelinan (JP) Memorial Glow Run hosted by Tan Holdings was joined by a total of 1,534 runners and supporters last Friday, February 2, 2018, exceeding last year’s 1,104. The proceeds, originally at $3,000, were upped to $8,000 by Tan Holdings President Jerry Tan’s writing over the cheque. These were donated to the 2018 Marianas March Against Cancer.

JP Memorial Glow Run is a 5-kilometer annual fundraising run in memory of John Pangelinan, former Tan Holdings executive and publisher of Saipan Tribune.

Corporate Office takes part in The Plastic Solution movement

Corporate Office In-house Eco Brick Project

Corporate Office supports The Plastic Solution’s cause in repurposing plastic bottles into Eco-bricks – fillers in constructing walls, fences, and other functions. The Plastic Solution is an environmental movement aiming to reduce and repurpose plastic waste and save space through easy and actionable steps.

A total of 225 bottles were stuffed and donated in three batches done in July, November, and December. The Corporate Office decided to continue the donations for 2018.
