TAN HOLDINGS EARNS HIGHEST HONORS IN INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYER AWARDS

SAIPAN, MARIANA ISLANDS. Tan Holdings Corporation (THC) and the L&T Group of Companies has received the highest honors from the Philippine’s First International Employers Awards, organized by the Department of Labor and Employment of the Republic of the Philippines, and the Philippines Overseas Employment Agency. The company was awarded with two recognitions, the "Presidential Award of Distinction" and the "International Employers Award".
The Presidential Award of Distinction, given last November 22, 2002 at Malacanang Palace in Manila, is a special award that was conferred by Her Excellency Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Dr. Tan Siu Lin, THC chairman and THC President Willie Tan received the award.
The award was given to 10 international companies that exhibited distinct achievement in performing extraordinary acts of assistance and aid to their employees during times of emergency, stress, hazard or danger, as well as exhibited the finest employee care programs. Tan Holdings Corp. shared this honor with other big corporations such as Hyatt International Hotels & Resorts, the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), Emirates/Dubai National Air Travel Agency, Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, and JGC Corporation.
The International Employers Awards was given last November 21 at The Peninsula Hotel in Makati City by the Philippine’s Department of Labor and Employment to institutional employers of overseas Filipino workers. Labor Secretary Patricia Sto. Tomas conferred the award to winning employers who demonstrated exemplary terms and conditions of work that contribute to employees' increased productivity and quality performance.
The First International Employers Awards is the Philippine government’s award giving body that recognizes outstanding contributions of foreign employers of Overseas Filipino Workers and Seafarers from various host countries all over the world.
Tan Holdings Corp. is one of the largest private employers in the Western Pacific. It is involved in 14 industries that are vital to island economies, including hotels, airlines, logistics, apparel manufacturing, insurance, travel, real estate, and entertainment.
