A PLEASURE. That's how THC EVP Jerry Tan (right) described Tan Holding's involvement as a sponsor in the Guam Football Association's (GFA) development. He is seen here giving the dummy check to Richard Lai. president of the GFA.

THE TAN Holdings Foundation, represented by Executive Vice President Jerry Tan, announced last August 29 its "Platinum" level donation of $150,000 to the Guam Football Association (GFA). Announced during a press conference at the Leo Palace in Guam along with six other business donors, the donation represents $30,000 each year in cash and in-kind support for the next five years.

"We are very happy to do something for the children of Guam," expressed Tan during his speech at the conference. "It's really a pleasure to now be an official sponsor of the Guam Football Association. This allows us a chance to help in the continuous improvement of our athletes' training facilities and increase their opportunity to compete locally and internationally."

Also present during the conference was Guam Governor Felix Camacho who, in a lighthearted moment, said to Tan: "Jerry, one of the teams you beat when you played as a kid was mine!"

Camacho then said, "Today, there's a lot of talent in the islands. Without the help of sponsors, without the vision of the Guam Football Association, we wouldn't be here. You are investing in the lives of our children and in their future."

During the press conference, the GFA received a total of $680,000 in donations from several corporations, which included THC.

In light of the donation, GFA President Richard Lai expressed his appreciation: "It has been a long road to where we are today. Thank you to all our sponsors who trust in us and in our children. Soccer today went from being the sixth or seventh in sports to the island's number one sport.
