Consul General Marciano r. De Borja Administers Oath of New Philippine Honorary Consul to the CNMI
Consul General Marciano R. de Borja administered the oath of office of Mr. Glicerio M. Arago, newly appointed Philippine Honorary Consul for the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI), on Friday morning, 08 May 2015 at the Philippine Consulate General on Guam in a simple but formal ceremony attended by the Consulate General’s staff, Mr. Arago’s colleagues and staff in Tan Holdings Corporation and representatives from the Filipino community in Saipan.
Mr. Arago is Senior Vice President and Chief Finance Officer of Tan Holdings Corporation in Saipan. He was appointed as Philippine Honorary Consul by Secretary Albert F. del Rosario effective April 8, 2015 with base in Saipan and jurisdiction over the entire Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI).
In his short message, Consul General de Borja praised Mr. Arago’s sense of service and his willingness to extend his service and assistance to the Filipino community by accepting the position even on a pro bono basis. He also said that Arago’s appointment is indeed a welcome development and will be a big help for the Philippine Consulate General in Guam in dealing with the needs of the Filipinos since the closure of the Philippine Consulate General in Saipan in 2012
Mr. Arago, on the other hand, expressed that he is honored to be given the chance to serve as the Philippine Honorary Consul and be of service to the Filipino community, particularly in the CNMI. Being new to this responsibility, he said that there will be a lot of challenges but he said that he will try to do his best to work closely with the Philippine Consulate General in Guam to serve the needs and interest of the Philippines and the Filipino community in Saipan and in the entire CNMI.
After the oath taking ceremony, Post briefed Mr. Arago on his functions and responsibilities as new Honorary Consul.
In the afternoon, he and the rest of the guests from Tan Holdings Corporation and Filipino community representatives from Saipan attended the Philippine Franchise Business Forum organized by the Philippine Consulate General in cooperation with the Philippine Franchise Association at Holiday Resort Hotel.
