POI ACHIEVES ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION

SAIPAN. Pacific Oriental Inc. (POI) has become one of the few companies in Micronesia to attain ISO 9001 - 2000 version international quality certification. For POI, attaining the certification included developing a corporate mission statement and values, as well as a comprehensive quality policy concerned with its services, as well as the handling of clients.

ISO, which stands for "International Organization for Standardization" is an independent standards body based in Geneva, Switzerland with a membership of approximately 130 countries that agree on common standards of high quality.
"The POI team worked extremely hard and spent many hours over several months in order to prepare and pass this audit. This is a very important achievement for POI as all our airline customers expect us to perform top level service," said POI General Manager Frank B. Camacho.

Because of the company's commitment to quality and other factors, POI was recently selected to provide ground handling services to Korean Air Lines, which began service to Saipan on January 11, 2002.

Pacific Oriental, Inc. (POI) began operations in 1991 to provide a wide range of aircraft ground handling services to both private and commercial aircraft at the Saipan International Airport. The company employs an airline-trained staff of more than 70 people who provide such services as ticketing, pre-checking, counter check-in, passenger handling, baggage handling, weight and balance, load planning, ramp service, cargo handling, aircraft interior and exterior cleaning, aircraft maintenance, water and lavatory servicing.
