SAIPAN - After much anticipation and arduous preparations, Martin Nievera's "A Night to Remember" concert organized by Tan Holdings took place last July 12,2005 at the Hopwood Junior High School football field, drawing in more than 3,000 people.

A fundraising event for the Northern Marianas College Foundation, all the proceeds of the concert went go to the foundation for its numerous cause-oriented activities. Billed as Saipan's concert event of the year, concertgoers came prepared with beach mats, still cameras and umbrellas, which came in handy when it started to rain. And despite the continuous downpour, the audience still preferred to get soaked rather than leave their prized seats.

Such a sacrifice proved worth it later on when Nievera's eight-piece band, led by veteran musical director Louie Ocampo, went onstage, signaling the start of a fun-filled night. Nievera, ever the crowd pleaser, sang renditions of famous songs such as Micheal Buble's, Moondance, Philippine National Artist George Canseco's love song, Nasaan Ka? (Where Are You?), a medley of Barry Manilow hits and several classics like No Way to Treat A Heart, You and Be My Lady. He also performed his own compositions such as Miracle and Stay With Me.

Nievera interacted with his audience by talking about his activities since he arrived on the island last July 9. He said organizers. brought him to the island's beautiful golf courses and showed pictures of his game with Lt. Gov. Diego T. Benavente on the giant screens. To the surprise of the audience, Nievera also asked Saipan Rotary Club's Citizen of the Year David M. Sablan up on stage and gave him a "crash course" on belting it all out.

As his final set ended, the audience continued to brave the light drizzle, which turned into heavy rain and chanted "More! More! More!" as Nievera and his crew left the stage. The renowned concert king then went back to treat his adoring fans to one more song, appropriately entitled, Kahit Isang Saglit (Even For Just a Moment).

The emcees of the concert were Eliezer "DJ Myk Kayo" Alinas of Magic 100.3 and Tan Holdings Corp. 's Corporate Communications Officer Ten Flores.
