CTSI FSM 1article

CTSI FSM organized a Dangerous Goods (DG) training Category 6 for Pohnpei clients. It had 15 attendees from College of Micronesia, Vital FSM Petro Corp., FSM Telecommunications Corp., and Medpharm Click & Pharmacy. The training instructor was Mr. Martin Tugano – training manager of Air Niugini, the national airline of Papua New Guinea.

The purpose of the DG training is to ensure that clients have a detailed understanding of the regulations, to pack their dangerous goods cargo in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations. All professionals handling dangerous goods must be trained because it can compromise their health and the safety of others around them if not handled properly in accordance with the regulations.

The FSM station deems it important to organize the DG training again because our esteemed clients were asking when is the next training as their certificates from 2011 DG class are no longer valid.

The training lasted for five days, from April 17-21. The participants had to pass the certifying exam on the 5th day to get certified and acquire their Hazardous Material (HazMat) IDs.
