For Immediate Release, July 2001:
Asia Pacific Airlines Expands Fleet
GUAM. In an effort to meet an increasing demand for cargo air freight operations in the Pacific region, Guam-based Asia Pacific Airlines (APA) has brought in a second Boeing 727-212 aircraft to serve various industries, including fishing and garment manufacturing.
"The expansion of our fleet has increased our service reliability, particularly in transporting highly perishable seafood products," said Robert Walker, vice president and general manager for APA, who added that he feels confident in the company's ability to serve the market.
Coupled with flexibility in scheduling and alliances with CTSI Logistics and other major firms, APA considers its area of operation and market niche as strengths in sustaining profitability. At present, the company is working expanding its twice weekly schedule to Honolulu, along with the inauguration of service to Kwajalein to service the US Military. Negotiations are also underway to service Taiwan and Macau and, possibly, Shenzen. An opportunity to service Pago Pago in the American Samoan is also being considered.
APA was established in March 1999 as an affiliate of Tan Holdings Corporation. It has regular flights to Hong Kong, Honolulu, Manila, Pohnpei, Yap, Chuuk, Koror, Majuro, and Manado. In addition, the company also provides air transport service to the U.S. Postal Service from Honolulu to Majuro.
